Starter Replacement

This article shows the steps to remove the starter from a 2000 Jeep Wrangler TJ.

Disconnect the Battery

Disconnect the negative lead on the battery and tape the end.

Location Of Starter

The starter is connected on the passenger side of the engine down near the oil pan.

Label the Wires

There are two wires that go to the starter. Basically, they can't be mixed up because they are different sizes, but it is helpful to label them just in case.

Disconnect the Starter

The starter is connected with two bolts. The lower bolt is inserted from the from and the upper bolt is inserted from the back.

Remove the lower bolt:

Remove the upper bolt:

And that's it.
